resort was named after the indigenous Lucayan Indians who were know for their generous
spirit. The Our Lucaya staff successfully takes this bit of Bahamian history and
incorporates it into the daily way of this wondrous resort.
Our Lucaya?s Brief History
Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort opened in December of 2000 after over two years of
construction. A 550 million-dollar project, so much thought and planning went into this
paradise that whether for business or pleasure no guest should want for anything. As one
of the largest resorts in all of the Bahamas and the Caribbean Our Lucaya
is the centerpiece for the exciting Renaissance of Grand Bahama Island.
Our Lucaya, which is only a hop, skip and jump from Miami, Florida, is easily accessible
with direct flights from New York, Toronto, Miami, Ft.Lauderdale and Atlanta. Connections
can be made from numerous cities all over the world. For those who prefer a slower yet
more beautiful method of travel Discovery Cruise Lines is the best route to go.
Lodging and Dining at Our Lucaya
Our Lucaya resort sits on seven and a half acres of white sand and sparkling blue water.
There are three distinct areas of the resort in which to stay: Breakers Cay, Lighthouse
Pointe and Reef Village. All three possess on aura of Caribbean charm yet differ in order
to meet different preferences of different guests. Restaurants are numerous at Our Lucaya.
With 14 dining establishments, any food your palate craves will easily
be found. From fine dining to poolside dining to room service it is guaranteed that no
guest will ever go hungry.
A Warm Welcome At Our Lucaya
After arriving at Our Lucaya the first stop is the Manor House. This colonial style house
gives guests their first introduction to how their stay will go at the resort. A smiling,
friendly staff assists with check-in. Once this is over, visitors are escorted to the
middle of the resort?s grounds where a breathtaking view of the Caribbean stretches before
them.
Activities At Our Lucaya
It is for certain that there is never a lack of something to do at Our Lucaya, whether it
be golf, gambling or simply lounging in the sun. For those with a passion for golf two
courses are available: the Lucaya course designed by Dick Wilson and the Reef Course
designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Each course offers two entirely different
approaches to ? the game ?. If your passion of play rests in cards, slots or the roulette
wheel, no need to worry. Opening in the fall of 2001, Our Lucaya Casino will offer hours
of fun and enjoyment. And for those who enjoy the relaxation that accompanies laying by
the water, the options are many. Three pools that feature waterslides, infinity edges and
swim up bas are available for the sun bums. And don?t forget there?s always the Caribbean
Ocean.
Other fun-filled activities are available for vacationers. Four tennis courts, bird
watching tours, snorkeling, jet skiing, beach volleyball and much more are all available
at Our Lucaya. For those parents who need some time alone for a romantic dinner or moonlit
walk on the beach. Camp Lucaya is a fun, supervised atmosphere for children.
Our Lucaya is open year round. Rates vary depending on the time of year. Various travel
